2013 Latvia

04/10/13 Riga, Latvia with my friends Dennis and Anne.

The second day of Riga! We searched some tourist spots of Riga, and decided to go 2 places- Latvian ethnographic open air space museum and Air space art gallery.

There are 3 types of public transportation in Latvia- Normal bus, trolley bus, and a sort of train. The first 2 types exist in Lithuania as well, but train type doesn't. In Korea, there are not trolley type of transportation. Even the vehicle was very exotic to me,at first!

I love this place because of the peaceful atmosphere, fresh air and classic structures! We could feel like we were back in the 17c of Europe. All structures were built in 17c. The wood smell of all houses helped us guess the age of houses in this town.

With beautiful bride and handsome broom. Congratulations :D

Everywhere in the world, there might be the most popular place to take wedding pictures! I think, in Riga, here is one of the popular ones.

I reallyyyyy like these pictures. It looks like I'm about to stretch my hand to the sky :) Actually, the sky was really near the ground.

We found T.G.I Friday in Riga! I wanted to eat a steak for lunch, but the price was... However, the hamburger was also fantastic.

We found a street performance by nice guys. The song sounds really great.

Actually, I couldn't understand all the pieces in the gallery deeply. But I tried to do my best to understand each painters' mind. All explanations were written in English of course, it was hard to totally understand.

Actually, I was shocked by the drawings above. Because, when I looked those ones at first, I was very close to those. So, I devalued them telling Anne "It looks so easy to paint, how could it be an art work?" But, after seeing them a few steps apart from them, I could find the other points that the painter wanted to express. The valuable lesson- Don't judge the whole forest by looking just a part of trees.

A photograph from Russia

This photograph looks sensational. As the explanation, this photo was prohibited to exhibit at first because of its pornographic characteristics. The photographer wanted to express "the desire against prohibited love"

It was the last day of ours in Riga, Latvia. In my opinion, there were not many different things from Lithuania. This country has small state, their own language, their own currency and similar buildings and old town. But, I could hang out with nice guys, Dennis and Anne, so it was a nice trip. And the weather was really awesome.
